Coverage
Liability vs Full Coverage Car Insurance
Liability coverage helps pay for covered injury or damage you cause to others. Full coverage is not a single standardized policy type; people usually use it to mean liability plus collision and comprehensive coverage.
When liability-only may be considered
Drivers sometimes consider liability-only coverage for older vehicles with low market value. The tradeoff is that damage to your own vehicle may not be covered after a collision or non-collision event.
Questions before choosing
- Could you replace or repair your car without collision coverage?
- Does a lender or lease require comprehensive and collision?
- Are your liability limits high enough for a serious accident?
